Unless otherwise noted, all our European motorcycles are equipped with:
Beach's Motorcycle Adventures use the fine machines of Bavaria, those from BMW Motorrad, for all our European tours. BMW's long standing history of quality and performance have proven itself and continue to impress the world over.
Because the Alps are best conquered without having to worry about the machine beneath you, they are best taken on a BMW. A Beach's tour is your adventure, so we offer a wide range of models for you to choose from. Rob would love to give his recommendation, so call if you have questions. Or you can read Rob's article on the issue.
The Beach family wants you to have a great tour on a machine that will make you happy. Therefore, most of the machines in the BMW model line are included in the rider price, including R 1250 models. Only a few premium bikes have an extra surcharge.
We have expanded the seat height charts on the following specification lists. First is the traditional seat height, which is a linear measure. The arc length includes the width of the seat, or the length needed to put both feet down flat. This is an important metric. For example, Gretchen has an inseam of 29½". When sitting on the R 1250 R with a low seat, her feet are not quite flat, but she has a firm footing and is comfortable. This bike configuration has the lowest arc length by far of the models available, yet the seat height is not exceptionally lower than other bikes.
If you have never ridden in the Alps, read Rob's full article regarding bike choice.
There is a profound difference between riding in North America and riding in Europe. The difference is as big as Corvette vs. Porsche. North American roads in the 21st century all lead to the interstate system, designed by a military general, straight and firm. Frequently with enough tarmac to land a warplane in times of crisis.
European roads were beaten into existence over thousands of years by the feet of farmers, pilgrims, traders, warriors, knights, and invaders. They may be paved now, but the tendency for smaller winding roads that resemble the land still exists. For a rider, these roads are what a motorcycle was made for. A smaller, more nimble machine outranks raw horsepower and luxury attachments every day of the week.
Each is equipped with saddlebags.
The pre-2024 version of this bike was badged as the F 750 GS. The current model is badged as the F 800 GS. For all functional purposes they are the same bike, with the same specifications, except power output. The 800 has added 10 hp to bump it from 77 to 87 hp.

All new for 2024 is the R 1300 GS. How can you upgrade the benchmark? Remarkably, BMW has done it. Lighter, slimmer, and more powerful, it is better than its previous iteration. Output is now 143 horsepower and 109.9 lb.-ft. of torque, an increase of 9 hp and 4.4 lb.-ft. over the R1250GS, making this the most powerful production boxer ever made.
That power isn't raw and uncontrollable. Thanks to improvements in the shift-cam technology and better engine-management electronics power delivery is buttery smooth. The torque curve isn't dependent on RPM. This remarkable motor pulls from just off idle right through to redline.
